The article gives a brief description of the research papers published in the Special Issue "Ceramics and Construction Materials" highlighting their main aspects of interest and originality. The variety of materials dealt with is wide, ranging from environmentally friendly bricks to low-carbon cements. The whole of the published research results illustrate how ceramics and construction materials are becoming more and more different from traditional ones and how their final properties largely depend on engineering optimization.
